Millwall boo BLM kneeling...first of many?
A vocal section of Millwall fans have been criticised for booing as players took the knee in support of the Black Lives Matter movement before their match with Derby.

Saturday's match at The Den was the first time supporters had been able to attend Millwall's home ground since the coronavirus pandemic saw games halted in March.

About 2,000 fans were in the stands but the match was overshadowed as loud booing could be heard when players from both teams took the knee before kick off, with at least one supporter heard shouting "get up!".

I sincerely hope not. I'm keen for the knee-taking to stop, but booing is retarded and marks people out as such.

On players taking a knee in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, Rowett added: 'Is it a political message, is it an anti-discrimination message?

'The players have come out and said they don't support the political aspect, but they do support the anti-discrimination aspect of it and of course we all do.'

It no longer has a purpose.

I know the players are against racism, as am I, you probably might have an inkling that is the case too, so, to whom are they demonstrating every week, morons?

It has served it's purpose and it will need to be stopped before fans pack the stadiums otherwise you can see that some people are going to get upset.

“What I saw in terms of that movement was not aligned with what I believe in. They were burning churches and Bibles. I can’t support that.

“Even though I am a person of colour, I’m still more a person of, I guess, Jesus.”

And the RFU has backed the players who made the choice not to take the knee.

I can understand people thinking taking the knee run it’s course a long time ago. I can understand people thinking it’s time this stopped. But why do people get so upset by it?

Re: Millwall boo BLM kneeling...first of many?
Iron Duke,

Because, whether it is the intention or not, taking the knee is associated with the BLM movement.

BLM has been associated with being anti-capitalist, anti-police, anti-israeli and wanting to set up a political party and not everyone agrees with all that.

The point has been made and heard and it has run its course. How long do they intend to do this for ?

For the same reason people get passionate about it.

Although booing a pathetic race baiting marxist gesture isn't the same as rioting and pulling down statues.

To be fair, our players are probably fairly well used to us booing them by now...

It's absolutely fucking astounding that no one in the mainstream has highlighted this was a common gesture within the American civil rights movement of the 60's. None the less it's a bit of a soppy gesture in a similar vein to the "je suis Charlie" bollocks after the Islamist attacks on Charlie hebdo and considering its modern day association with BLM and Colin Kapernick there's going to be some backlash unless someone draws attention to its true origins. It's no good for righteous campaigners to say "they're racist idiots" when it's much more diplomatic and unifying to point out how it started back when there was a truly righteous cause.

BLM and taking the knee has put the fight against racism back 20 years. Also what was all the rainbows about today.

It's just part of the game now.

Minutes silence, take a knee, kick off.

Re: Millwall boo BLM kneeling...first of many?
This kneeling ritual is a quasi-religious political statement.

As far as I can see, the view seems to be that it is ok to criticise it, just so long as you don’t criticise it in any way that might mean that someone else might hear your criticism.

You can believe what you want about this kneeling gesture but don’t piss on my back and tell me it’s raining. I saw baying crowds forcing people to bend the knee to their radical political ideas, I saw the film of bibles being burnt and old men and women being beat because they wouldn’t bend. For the mob that set fire to numerous US cities and spread its violence to here, the knee was about submission and obedience.

Re: Millwall boo BLM kneeling...first of many?
The way things are going the players will have to come out an hour before kick-off to fit in all the virtue signalling.. Its fuckin pathetic

Re: Millwall boo BLM kneeling...first of many?
The taking the knee is all wrong, it's condoning an organisation hell bent on social chaos.
